Thailand vaping ban is little known to tourists and tourists now warned you could face stiff penalties.

Vaping might be legal in America but if you’re heading to Thailand, you’ll want to leave your e-cigarette at home.US and UK tourists are now warned about the severe consequences if they’re caught vaping in the popular vacation destination. The vaping ban has been in place in the South East Asian country since 2014, however many in the tourism industry remain unaware of it. This law has since been expanded to the export as well as sale of e-smoking devices and equipment. Although it is common to see people vaping in Thailand offenders are technically breaking the law as possession is illegal.

“These items are likely to be confiscated and you could be fined or sent to prison for up to 10 years if convicted.“The sale or supply of e-cigarettes and similar devices is also banned and you could face a heavy fine or up to 5 years imprisonment if found guilty.

Several tourists from abroad have been arrested for possession of vaporizers and e-cigarettes.  Typical fine can start at $150, if you’re lucky enough to not do jail time.

Other countries to prohibit the import and sale of e-cigarettes include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.All e-cigarettes and e-liquids now have to be registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency before they are put up for sale.

E-cigarette liquid bottles are not allowed to be sold in quantities greater than 10ml. Refillable e-liquid tanks cannot be bigger than 2ml in capacity.

Travelers are advised to do some research prior to visiting.
