18 Aug Travel WARNING: Do THIS in Thailand and you could end up in JAIL
Thailand vaping ban is little known to tourists and tourists now warned you could face stiff penalties.
“These items are likely to be confiscated and you could be fined or sent to prison for up to 10 years if convicted.” UK Foreign Office
The vaping ban has been in place in the South East Asian country since 2014, however many in the tourism industry remain unaware of it. This law has since been expanded to the export as well as sale of e-smoking devices and equipment. Although it is common to see people vaping in Thailand offenders are technically breaking the law as possession is illegal.
Several tourists from abroad have been arrested for possession of vaporizers and e-cigarettes. Typical fine can start at $150, if you’re lucky enough to not do jail time.
E-cigarette liquid bottles are not allowed to be sold in quantities greater than 10ml. Refillable e-liquid tanks cannot be bigger than 2ml in capacity.
Travelers are advised to do some research prior to visiting.
